The Maroondah Singers are back with some 50 members present at our first rehearsal on February 5.  We have a full program of music to prepare for two coming concerts that celebrate 50th anniversaries.  The first on Sunday, May 20 will be in the Mountview Church to celebrate  the 50th anniversary of the church itself on that site.  The choir will sing Benedictus, Hymn of Peace & the Old Hundredth hymn (All people that on earth do dwell).

The second will be our 50th Anniversary Concert to be held on June 17 at 2.30 pm at Melba College, Croydon and the concert will be followed by dinner in a local restaurant, Casablanca. The concert program will feature many of our favourites from the years including Ave Verum by Mozart, The Ground by Ola Geilo, songs by Elgar, from Broadway musicals & many more including some new pieces not previously sung by the choir.  A particularly exciting feature of the concert will be that in addition to our 2018 vocal scholar several of the scholars from previous years will join us to present guest pieces with the choir.  Lyndon, James & Jenna will be back to do what they do best, sing beautifully to rousing applause from an appreciative audience.

The choir will be having a recruiting night – see insert – on March 5.  We need more singers and this will be a great evening.  We will do some singing then stop for a cuppa and some socializing.  Tell your friends, bring a friend or two.  You & they will enjoy it.  Remember our motto: Sing, Sing often, Sing with Others.
