The Maroondah Singers are celebrating autumn at a special concert on Sunday March 24 while also presenting our exciting new Vocal Scholar for 2019.
The Mountview Uniting Church hall in Mitcham will reverberate to the sounds of choir favourites under the leadership of Musical Director Lyn Henshall while accompanist John Atwell will also perform as Associate Artist.
Tenor Nathan Michael Wright was officially introduced as our new scholar at our Annual General Meeting on February 25. This was only a day after he had finished performing in the chorus for Victoria Opera in Wagner’s Parsifal alongside another former scholar in Nathan Lay.
Lyn presented a plaque to Nathan (see picture), noting that he was equally comfortable singing both musical theatre and opera and he showed his versatility by singing Franz Schubert’s Fruhlingsglaube and On the Street Where You Live from My Fair Lady.
The singer, described by Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Victoria as “someone with dashing leading man looks and a swoon-worthy tenor”, is sure to delight the audience on March 24.
The concert starts at 2.30pm at the hall at the Corner of East Doncaster Road and Maroondah Highway in Mitcham. Tickets are $25 Adult, $20 Concession and Under 12 Free. They are available through trybooking simply by clicking on to “Book Now” at the top right hand corner of our website page.
