Just in case you are uncertain as to what you are letting yourself in for when you attend our coming Christmas Concert, let the following comments reassure you.
There have been many positive comments in praise of our recent Annual Concert performance. The concert was filmed and videos are now up on our Vimeo channel with links provided below.
Our audience was very enthusiastic in their responses to the songs which were a mixture of traditional jazz numbers, excerpts from masses, opera choruses and the wonderful new piece The Ground from Ola Gjeilo’s Sunrise Mass.
Our own resident soloist Nadia Migliardi sang The Nun’s Chorus solo with the choristers.
as well as I could have danced all night . She was a great hit with the crowd – loved Nadia. What a voice!! (Shirley- audience member).
And from our past president, Ally, in the UK –The choir sang the Hymn Of Peace (video) beautifully I was really proud of you all. Lyn has done a splendid job of improving the quality of the choir’s sound musically and controlled the dynamics skilfully, as you responded to her conducting.
It was a wonderful afternoon of music and we appreciated all the friends, family, guests and others who came along to hear our work and support us. This is what enables the choir to continue operating.
We are excited about coming concert on December 7th, at our rehearsal hall in Mitcham. This will be our Christmas Concert, featuring Australian Carols form the Wheeler and James Songbooks, and some other magical Christmas music – much loved tunes such as White Christmas and Sleigh Ride, O Holy Night (the rousing gospel version), all presented with the stunning harmonies and great diction the choir is noted for.
Our Hall has wonderful acoustics for singers, so the sound is amazing. We also provide an old fashioned and utterly delicious, all home-made, afternoon tea for our audience as part of the Concert. There will also be some great t-shirts on sale, a new merchandising endeavour for the choir. You can order on the day at the concert or order online here.
This is a wonderful way to conclude our performance program for the year.
